TOO FAMILIAR TO BELIEVE.

Earphones on while sitting in front of my PC and smashing my daily assigned tasks. The songs or gospel messages coming from the earphones are mostly responsible for my not-so-boring day. This is because I really do not have a seat partner to gist all I want, and also, I find myself in a phase in my career where I should be providing guidance or instruction on activities within my space.

On this day, I thought to listen to the audio Bible while I carried out my task, and my head and mind could not fathom what I had heard. For almost 30 minutes, I kept pondering the words. It was Mathew Chapter 8, the story of the Centurion and Jesus. Jesus was willing to go with the centurion to heal his sick servant, but the centurion refused. Rather, he asked Jesus to give the command from where he was. The response from Jesus was what made me replay that section repeatedly. It reads Many will come from the east and west and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.  My concern in this scripture was how the sons of the kingdom would be cast out into outer darkness.

For some minutes, I paused and wondered why. On the contrary, it should be the children of darkness cast into outer darkness, and while I was exchanging this concern with a colleague of the same faith, it dawned on me that the context of this was on receiving from Jesus.

The centurion (who in those days could not be considered a child of the kingdom) got his miracle by believing that once the word leaves the mouth of the Lord Jesus, his servant was healed. Unfortunately, those of the kingdom will remain in the darkness of ignorance, pain, and other vices associated with darkness simply because we have become FAMILIAR with the presence.

This explains why new converts come into the church and receive their miracles instantly, whereas those who have been in the same church will remain in the same situation for a long time. These are those who say Amen with their lips but fill their hearts with the river of doubts.

This engagement today is a wake-up call to my fellow believers. Throw away familiarity with Jesus and go back to His word and take it literally as it has been said. If He says you are healed, then you are healed! If He says you are blessed, then you are blessed!

Go back to the word and take it as it is written.

God Bless you.
